Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits kept the Whitecaps guessing as Bandit pitchers fanned 13 batters on Friday night. The Bandits scored seven in the first inning and never looked back taking the first of three games with the West Michigan 8-3 in their second straight victory at home.

Three Bandits drove in multiple runs in the game with Edgar Lara leading the way for Quad Cities. Lara was 2-for-2 with three RBI. Lara hit a two-run double in the opening frame, as well as his seventh home run in the sixth, tying him for the team lead with Matt Adams and Niko Vasquez. Ryan Jackson, Jason Stidham, and Michael Swinson each added a pair of base knocks and a run scored. Stidham and Swinson each drove in a pair of runs, as they each had a double and a triple.

Deryk Hooker (3-2) pitched five scoreless for the River Bandits. Hooker fanned six and surrendered five hits in his third win of the season. Justin Smith and Aaron Terry combined for three scoreless innings and six strikeouts in relief for Quad Cities. Jason Novak surrendered three runs on four hits in the eighth.

Ramon Lebron (4-4) was saddled with his fourth loss of the season after he allowed seven of the Bandits' eight runs in just two-thirds of an inning on Friday. The Whitecaps held the Bandits at bay until the sixth when Lara slugged his homer off of right-hander Nolan Moody.

The River Bandits continue their three game series with the Whitecaps on Saturday night when they send righty Eric Fornataro (5-4) to face off with the Detroit Tigers number one overall prospect Jacob Turner (1-3). The gates at Modern Woodmen Park will open at 4:30 p.m. with first pitch set for 6 p.m.
