July 3, 2009 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Dayton Dragons News Release

Dayton, Ohio-The Dayton Dragons announced the following roster moves today:

Outfielder Dave Sappelt has been promoted to Sarasota of the Florida State League.

Outfielder Josh Fellhauer has been assigned to Dayton after being selected in the 2009 draft.

Sappelt hit .269 with three home runs and 25 runs batted in with the Dragons in 2009. He appeared in 74 of the club's 77 games.

Fellhauer was the starting center fielder and top hitter at Cal-State Fullerton this spring, helping the team to a berth in the eight-team College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. He was the highest-drafted player on the Cal-State Fullerton team, selected in the seventh round last month by the Cincinnati Reds.

Fellhauer hit .396 with 12 doubles, six home runs, 55 runs batted in, and 18 stolen bases in 60 games this spring. He struck out just 26 times in 227 at-bats.

Fellhauer was selected as a 3rd Team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. He was chosen 1st Team All-Big West Conference in 2009 as a junior after being selected 2nd Team All-Conference in 2008.

Baseball America issued the following review on Fellhauer when he was drafted by the Reds:

"Fellhauer is one of the more exciting and dynamic players in college baseball. Similar to Lenny Dykstra in his build and playing style, Fellhauer has emerged as the best player on one of the nation's top college teams...Fellhauer is one of the finest defensive outfielders in the nation, showing the ability to run down drives in front of him, over his head and in the gaps. His excellent arm is made more effective by his accuracy and quick release. Fellhauer exhibits a quick bat and the ability to rip line drives to all fields."

The Dragons roster remains at 24 players, one below the Midwest League limit.
