
Bees Drop Series Finale and End up Splitting Series

Davenport, IA (July 3, 2009) - The Burlington Bees wrapped up their four-game series with Quad Cities losing 4-1 Saturday night. With the loss, the Bees split the series with Quad Cities.
The Bees opened the scoring with one run in the top of the second inning. With two outs, Fernando Garcia doubled and then came around to score on a Juan Rivera single. The Bees led 1-0 until the bottom of the fifth when Quad Cities scored two runs to take the lead. Quad Cities added another two runs in the sixth to take the 4-1 lead.
Manauris Baez got the start for the Bees. In 5.1 innings, he allowed four runs, three of which were earned, on six hits with four strikeouts and no walks. He took the loss to move to 3-3. Riquy Pena pitched 1.2 no-hit innings with two strikeouts and no walks. James Thompson pitched one scoreless inning allowing one hit with one strikeout.
The Bees had five hits in the game and no one had more than one. The Bees were outhit 7-5.
The Bees return home for a four-game series against Wisconsin beginning Saturday night at Community Field. The area's largest fireworks show, sponsored by the Catfish Bend Casino, will take place after the game.
