Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Fort Wayne TinCaps (affiliate of the San Diego Padres) in the last game of a three-game series.
Today's Dragons Starting Pitcher: Dan Langfield makes his first start and 12th appearance of 2014 tonight. Langfield began the 2014 season in extended spring training as he returned from shoulder surgery that caused him to miss all of 2013. He joined the Dragons on May 5 and has been used in regulated bullpen assignments over his first seven weeks with the team. He was rated as the #31 prospect in Reds organization entering 2014 season by Baseball America. He was rated as #11 prospect in system entering 2013 season.
Individual Notes
- Phillip Ervin is 7 for 23, .304 to start the second half and all seven hits are for extra bases (2 HR, 3 2B, 2 3B).
- Tanner Rahier has started the second half by going 10 for 25, .400 with a home run in six games (five 2-hit games).
- Jon Matthews is batting .403 (25 for 62) in 18 games since coming off the disabled list May 31 to raise his average from .136 to .333.
- Daniel Pigott is 7 for 20, .350 in six games to start the second half.
- Joe Hudson is 5 for 15, .333 to start the second half (four games).
