Your Cedar Rapids Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday, June 27th for a four-game home stand against the Clinton LumberKings. Here's a preview of what you can expect these next four days:
June 27-30 vs. Clinton
The Kernels host the Clinton LumberKings, the Midwest League affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, in a four game home stand starting June 27th.
It's Halfway to Christmas Night when the Kernels take on Clinton on Friday, June 27th. You'll want to be here when the gates open at 5:30 pm as the first 1,000 fans through the gates get a free Kernels Stadium Snow Globe. Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, the Elves and a live reindeer will be on the concourse, thanks to 2 Joes Farms. The Kernels will wear special jerseys, sponsored by Learning Rx, as part of Autism Awareness Night. The jerseys will be sold during the game via a silent auction with the proceeds to benefit the East Central Iowa Autism Society. Caricature artist Alison Bennett will be at the game. The Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Department will hold it's annual Home Run Derby for their league softball players on the field before the game. It's also 98.1 KHAK Kernels Friday Mug Club night. Buy a 16 oz. souvenir mug for $6 and get refills at the concession stands for $3 all game. Bring your mug back to every Kernels Friday home game for $3 refills. First pitch between the Kernels and Clinton is set for 6:35 pm.
It's a HUGE night at the ballpark on Saturday, June 28th. First, it's Twins Night as Twins legend and Hall of Famer, Rod Carew, will be on hand and signing autographs on the concourse from 5:15 until 6:00 pm. There is a limit of ONE autograph per person and no bats, jerseys or large items will be signed. For a list of what Rod will sign, visit the Kernels website at www.kernels.com. In addition to Rod Carew, Target Field Organist, Sue Nelson, will be here to play during the game as well as Twins mascot T.C. Bear. The Kernels will also give away five pairs of tickets to the MLB All-Star Game Fun Fest during the game. Caricature artist Alison Bennett will be at the game. The game will be broadcast LIVE on KCRG 9.2 and after the game, enjoy a spectacular FIREWORKS show, thanks to Procter & Gamble. Fireworks nights are VERY popular, so contact the Kernels Ticket Office at 896-7560, or order tickets on-line at www.kernels.com to get the best seats. Gates open at 5:00 pm and first pitch between the Kernels and LumberKings is set for 6:35 pm.
The home stand continues on Sunday, June 29th. It's a Planet X Run the Bases Sunday, where fans can run the bases and play catch in the outfield, and get autographs from the Kernels players on the field after the game. Fans can play Travel Advisors Baseball Bingo for a chance to win a trip to Minneapolis and see a Twins game in 2014. Enjoy the balloon artistry of Papa Balloon, face painting by Kennedy and magician Jackson Green on the concourse during the game. World-Class Juggler Doug Sayers will be on hand to entertain fans during the game. Caricature artist Alison Bennett will be at the game. Gates open at 1:00 pm and first pitch between the Kernels and Clinton is set for 2:05 pm.
Take a break from work and come out to our third Noon Game of the season on Monday, June 30th, sponsored by Z 102.9. Gates open at 11 am and Dollar Monday specials are in effect. Regular hot dogs, popcorn, chips ice cream sandwiches and Cracker Jack are just $1 each all game long. Plus, get $1 taquitos at the Hacienda Las Glorias / La Cantina Mexican Cart. Before the game, there will be a Yoga Instruction Session on the field with Lovar Davis Kidd. The cost is $12, which includes a Club ticket to the game or just $5 if you already have a game ticket. First pitch between the Kernels and LumberKings is set for 12:05 pm.

Run the Bases Sunday, sponsored by Planet X: After every Sunday home game, kids (and adults) can run the bases, play catch on the field and get autographs from the Kernels, sponsored by Planet X with media sponsor 104.5 KDAT. During the game, play Travel Advisors Baseball Bingo, co-sponsored by the Radisson near Mall of America for a chance to win a trip to Minneapolis and see a Twins game. Enjoy the balloon artistry of Papa Balloon on the concourse and face painting by Kennedy. Magician Jackson Green will entertain at Sunday home games, starting June 1st.
Dollar Monday: Regular hot dogs, small popcorn, ice cream sandwiches, chips and Cracker Jacks are each $1 on Monday home games. Plus, get $1 taquitos at the Hacienda Las Glorias / La Cantina Mexican Cart.
Twins Tuesday, sponsored by Great Clips: Get an on-line coupon from the Kernels Facebook page or email newsletter for a 2 for 1 ticket offer at Tuesday home games as part of Twins Tuesday, presented by Great Clips. The Kernels will wear special jerseys and one lucky fan will win a pair of Minnesota Twins tickets given away at every Tuesday home game.
Free Money Wednesday, sponsored by First Federal Credit Union: First Federal Credit Union will give away $500 at the main gates, to fans age 18 and older, at every Wednesday home game with $100 as the top cash prize.
Thirsty Thursday, sponsored by Z 102.9: 12 oz. regular draft beer, 20 oz. bottled soda and water are just $2.00 all game. Plus get $1 off margaritas at the Hacienda Las Glorias / La Cantina Mexican Cart. Every Thursday home game is also Little Caesars College Night. Show your college ID at the Kernels Ticket Office for a Club ticket and two slices of Little Caesars Pizza for just $7.
Kernels Friday Mug Club, sponsored by 98.1 KHAK: Buy a 16 oz. souvenir mug filled with your favorite regular draft beer or soda for just $6.00 and get refills at the Kernels concessions stands for just $3.00. Bring the mug back to every Kernels Friday home game for those $3.00 refills.
Tickets for all Kernel home games are available on-line at www.kernels.com; in person at the Kernels Ticket Office, or by calling 896-7560 during Ticket Office Hours. The Kernels Ticket Office is open from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday and from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. The ticket office is closed on Sunday, but opens at 11 am on Kernel Sunday Home games.
