
Bees Sweep Away Snappers to End Homestand

(Burlington-IA)- The Burlington Bees completed a three game series sweep over the Beloit Snappers, using another four run inning on their way to a 7-3 win on Thursday night at Community Field.
For the first time in the series, Beloit Snappers scored first when Matt Chapman singled into right field, scoring Chih Fang Pan, giving the Snappers a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
The Bees answered right away in the bottom of the first. After an Angel Rosa double put runners at second and third, Eric Aguilera grounded out to the right side, scoring Kody Eaves, tying the game at one. Later in the frame, Angel Rosa came home on a wild pitch, to put the Bees up 2-1 in the first inning.
Beloit grabbed the lead back in the second inning, after a lead off single by Luis Baez, Tyler Marincov crushed a two run home run, putting the Snappers back on top 3-2.
The Bees sent nine men to the plate in the third inning, scoring four times. The Bees' tied the game at three on a fielding error on the shortstop Melvin Mercedes, scoring Kody Eaves. Another error gave the Bees the lead, scoring Eric Aguilera on an error on Chih Fang Pan at second. The Bees made it a 5-3 lead when Mike Fish scored on a wild pitch. Ranyelmy Mendoza capped off the inning with a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Stephen McGee, pushing the lead to 6-3 after three innings.
Stephen McGee added to the Bees lead in the sixth inning with a single, scoring Erick Salcedo, extending the Bees' lead to the eventual final score of 7-3.
Bees' starter, Clint Sharp, (4-4) picked up the win and Snappers' starter, Hunter Adkins (0-1), was charged with the loss.
The Bees hit the road to start a four game series against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers tomorrow night at 6:30 PM. Garrett Nuss takes the mound for the Burlington Bees (41-35) against Clint Terry for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (41-35).
