Game # 76 (6) * Radio: WONE-AM 980

Lansing Lugnuts (4-1, 42-30) at Dayton Dragons (3-2, 38-37)

LH Sean Nolin (1-1, 3.60) vs. RH Daniel Renken (2-8, 4.25)

Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Lansing Lugnuts (affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays) in the finale of a three-game series. Season Series: Lansing 5, Dayton 3 (at Dayton: Lansing 3, Dayton 2).

The Streak: The Dragons consecutive game sell-out streak now stands at 810 (entering tonight's game), four short of the all-time sports record. Barring rain-outs, the Dragons could tie the record held by the Portland Trail Blazers of the NBA on July 2 and break the record on July 9.

Last Night: Lansing defeated Dayton 9-5 to snap the Dragons three-game winning streak. The Lugnuts scored four runs in the top of the first inning and held off several Dragons comeback bids. Dayton cut the deficit to 5-3 after six innings and 7-5 after seven, but each time, Lansing built the lead back to four. Matt Nuzzo had three hits and three RBI for Lansing.

Today's Dragons Starting Pitcher: Daniel Renken makes his 15th start of 2011 tonight. In Renken's last start last Friday at Bowling Green, he suffered the loss (5 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 SO). For the year, Renken has allowed one run in five of his 14 starts, but he has struggled over his last three starts (13 IP, 23 H, 13 ER, 7 BB, 17 SO, 5 HR after allowing only 3 HR in his first 11 starts). Renken was a late signee in 2010 by the Reds after being drafted in June in the 25th round out of Cal State Fullerton. In the spring of 2010 at CSF, Renken posted a record of 12-2 with 3.96 ERA. He tied for fifth in the nation in victories and earned Collegiate Baseball 3rd Team All-American honors while earning 1st Team All-Big West Conference for the second time in his college career. Renken led the Titans in starts and tied for the team lead in victories as Cal State Fullerton finished one victory short of qualifying for the eight-team College World Series, losing to eventual CWS runner-up UCLA in the Super Regional, two games to one. He finished his college career at CSF with a 27-10 record.

Individual Notes

* Donald Lutz is batting .444 (12 for 27) with 2 HR over his last seven games, raising his average from .238 to .262.

Hamilton led the Reds organization in stolen bases (48) in 2010 despite playing in a "short-season" league.

* Drew Hayes over his last 23 G: 27.2 IP, 2 R, 0.65 ERA (10 straight games without allowing a run). Hayes leads Midwest League relievers in opponents' batting average (.119) and strikeouts per 9 innings (14.34).

* The Dragons are batting .273 in the second half after hitting .241 in the first half.

* The Dragons have eased their reliance on great pitching to win. Over their last nine games, they have won four times when the opponent scored more than two runs. Prior to these nine games, they had gone 40 games without winning when the opponent scored more than two.

* Since April 18, the Dragons have held their opponents to two runs or less in 31 out of 64 games.

* The Dragons bullpen ERA for the year is 2.90. Over the last seven games, relievers have allowed 4 earned runs in 31 innings (1.16 ERA).

* The Dragons are 34-25 in night games; 4-12 in day games.

* The Dragons have stolen 133 bases to lead all of professional baseball.
