TinCaps Cruise Past Captains, 11-4

EASTLAKE, Ohio - The TinCaps blasted two homers in the first inning on their way to an 11-4 victory over Lake County, Wednesday at Classic Park. Wes Cunningham led the charge offensively with a home run and four RBI.

Fort Wayne pounded out 14 hits and drew seven walks to defeat the Captains.

After the first two hitters of the game went down in order, Tyler Stubblefield doubled to the wall in right. Luis Domoromo followed by pounding an 0-2 pitch over the wall in right-center to put the TinCaps on the board. Connor Powers singled and Cunningham belted a towering homer to right to make it 4-0.

Lake County chipped into the lead with a run in the second; Carlos Moncrief slapped an RBI single.

The TinCaps scored a pair of runs in the third and fourth innings; Cunningham stroked an RBI single in the third. In the fourth, Stubblefield was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Cunningham drew a bases-loaded walk. Stubblefield ripped an RBI single in the fifth to make it a 9- 1 game.

Lake County loaded the bases with nobody out and eventually plated three runs in the fifth inning to cut the lead to 9-4. Fort Wayne scored two insurance runs in the sixth to blow it back open.

TinCaps LHP Mark Hardy (4-7) picked up the win, allowing four runs on ten hits in five innings. Lake County RHP Jordan Cooper (2-3) was chased in the fourth inning and took the loss.

The TinCaps upped their record to 2-4 in the second half, 32-43 on the season; Lake County dipped to 2-4 in the half, 32-43 for the year.

The TinCaps open a three-game road series against the West Michigan Whitecaps (Class-A Detroit Tigers) Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Fort Wayne RHP Adys Portillo (1-8) toes the rubber against Whitecaps RHP Josue Carreno (4-7).
