
'Dogs Fall 5-0 to Flames

HAMILTON, ONT. - Adirondack Flames forward Sven Baertschi had a goal and three assists to pace the Flames (19-12-1-1) to a 5-0 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs (14-13-5-0) at FirstOntario Centre on Saturday evening.
Adirondack jumped out to a 2-0 lead just over two minutes into the first period, scoring on their first two shots on goal.
Flames forward Emile Poirier got things started 1:30 into the opening frame on the power play, with assists by defenceman Ryan Culkin and forward Mathieu Tousignant. Just 36 seconds later, Adirondack defenceman Nolan Yonkman buried a point shot, with an assist from Baertschi.
Poirier potted his second of the game 1:19 into the second period to give his club a 3-0 lead. Baertschi and forward Bill Arnold had assists on the play.
The Flames added two more in the third period to seal the game, 5-0. Arnold scored with four minutes to go, assisted by Baertschi, then Baertschi scored on the power play 34 seconds later, with assists by Poirier and Culkin.
Joey MacDonald made 29 stops on 34 shots for the Bulldogs in the loss, while Joni Ortio stopped all 23 shots faced for the Flames in the win.
Hamilton went 0-for-5 on the power play, while Adirondack was 2-for-5 with a man advantage.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 27 when they'll visit the Rockford IceHogs at BMO Harris Bank Center in Rockford, Ill. at 8 p.m. The 'Dogs will return to FirstOntario Centre on Friday, Jan. 9 when they'll host the Utica Comets at 7:30 p.m.
