Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators withstood a 2-0 first period deficit to defeat the host Hershey Bears 4-3 in overtime. Ryan Dzingel notched his eighth marker of the season 2:45 into the sudden-death period to give the B-Sens the come-from-behind victory.
Dustin Gazely opened the scoring 16:02 into the first period on a power-play goal before Chris Brown made it 2-0 Hershey with less than three minutes to play in the period and gave Hershey the lead heading into the first intermission.
Fredrik Claesson cut the Bears lead to 2-1 just 1:31 into the second when he managed to poke home a loose puck in front of Hershey's Pheonix Copley for his third goal of the year. Cole Schneider evened the score at two a piece just shy of the ten minute mark off a great feed from Carter Camper. Hershey was able to regain the 3-2 lead with just over two minutes remaining when Kris Newbury converted on a Bears' power-play chance.
Despite only recording six shots on net in the final period, the B-Sens evened the score 3-3 on a power-play marker via Alex Grant with less than four minutes to play to push the contest into overtime.
Following a point-blank save by the B-Sens Scott Greenham, Dzingel took the outlet pass from Claesson up the ice to beat Copley for his second game-winner of the season.
Claesson finished with a goal and an assist, while Shane Prince and Camper finished with three and two helpers respectively to lead Binghamton to their second straight victory following a four-game losing streak.
The B-Sens will be back in action New Year's Eve when they host the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at 6:05p.m. Tickets are available by calling the Binghamton Senators Executive Office at (607) 722-7367 or stopping in Monday-Friday between 9:00a.m. to 5:30p.m. Fans can also purchase tickets through the Floyd L.
