Dogs deal Faulkner to Columbia

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Long Beach Ice Dogs announced today that they have traded forward Mac Faulkner to the Columbia Inferno in exchange for defensemen Corey Hessler and Gary Gladue. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Mac Faulkner played 59 games for the Ice Dogs last season and scored 11 goals, 20 assists, for 31 points along with 89 penalty minutes in his first professional season. Faulkner also spent time with the Binghamton Senators in the AHL and did not register a point in five games.

In return for Faulkner, the Ice Dogs receive two reliable defenseman in Hessler and Gladue. Hessler, a 6' 1", 205-pound native of Mendota Heights, MN, recorded 86 points and 231 penalty minutes in 193 career ECHL regular season games with Columbia, Greenville, and Fresno. He has also scored 4 points in 24 career AHL games with Portland and Milwaukee. Hessler spent the majority of last season in Rockford (UHL) and recorded 41 points and 79 penalty minutes in 52 games. Corey played college hockey at University of Alaska-Anchorage for four seasons.

"Cory will certainly add the big time offense that we have been looking for," said Head Coach and General Manager Rick Adduono. "Hessler is a solid veteran leader and will certainly help bring a winning atmosphere to the Ice Dogs next season."

Gladue played last season with Columbia and scored 20 points and 40 penalty minutes in 64 games in his rookie season. Prior to turning pro, the 6' 0" 170-pound native of Coquitlam, British Columbia, played with the Prince George Cougars, Calgary Hitman, and the Spokane Chiefs in the WHL and scored 111 points and 136 penalty minutes in 307 WHL games.

"The experience that Gary gained last season in Columbia makes him that more valuable," said Head Coach and General Manager Rick Adduono. "I fully expect Gary to provide us a little bit of everything from the Ice Dogs blue line next season and have a fine second year in the ECHL."
