Columbia Inferno News Release

COLUMBIA, S.C. (September 21, 2006) - Head Coach Troy Mann announced that the Columbia Inferno have traded defenseman Corey Hessler and the rights to defenseman Gary Gladue to the Long Beach Ice Dogs. In return, the Inferno acquired the rights of left winger Mac Faulkner.

Faulkner, 6'1", 205 lbs., King City, Ontario native played his rookie season with the Ice Dogs contributing 11 goals, 20 assists for 31 points in 59 games. He also appeared in five games with the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League. Faulkner played his collegiate career from 2001-2005 with Clarkson University. He played 141 games, scored 33 goals, 50 assists and had 160 penalty minutes. During his junior year, he was Clarkson's leading scorer with 43 points in 40 games.

"With the additions on the blueline from the Marlies and the defenseman we have invited to training camp this off-season, we felt we were dealing from a position of strength," said Coach Mann. "Therefore, adding a player of the caliber of Mac Faulkner certainly makes us deeper at the forward position."

Hessler played for the Inferno for two seasons of his professional career from 2002-2004. Gladue scored three goals and 17 points in 64 games for the Inferno last season during his rookie year.

Season and partial ticket packages are now on sale for the 2006-07 season by calling 256-7825 or visiting the Inferno website at www.columbiainferno.com. The Inferno opens the home season on Friday, October 27th against the Augusta Lynx at 7:05pm.
