'Dogs Can't Overcome Big KC Third, Drop Finale

LINCOLN - The Kansas City T-Bones tallied six runs in the third en route to an 8-6 victory over the Saltdogs to win the series at Haymarket Park Sunday evening.

Lincoln scored three in the sixth, highlighted by a Vance Albitz two-run triple and a run each in the eighth and ninth to pull within two but Kyle Dahman struck out Albitz with a runner on third to end the game.

Devin Anderson (6-6) pitched six innings, allowing four runs on 12 hits to notch the victory. Vince Bongiovanni (1-1) allowed three earned on four hits in four innings to suffer the loss in his Haymarket debut. Dahman allowed a run in the ninth but picked up his second save.

In the big third inning for the T-Bones, they scored six runs on three hits and two errors.

Jimmy Mojica led off the ballgame with a home run to left, his 12th of the season. Ray Sadler added a mammoth solo shot to center field in the seventh, his 17th of the year.

Albitz finished the game 3-for-5 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Gavin Dickey had a three-hit night as well and Jeff Howell, Brandon Jones, and Joe Ramos each booked multi-hit games in the loss.

The Saltdogs outhit Kansas City 15 to 8 but stranded 12 runners on base, compared to seven for the T-Bones.

Lincoln hosts the El Paso Diablos in game one of a three-game series Monday night at 7:05 p.m. Radio coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on KFOR 1240.
