Dogs, Brews, Fireworks on Tap as Future Pirates Visit Spikes July 1-3

(STATE COLLEGE, PA) - The State College Spikes return home to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Wednesday for a trio jam-packed nights of fun, affordable family entertainment and future major league stars to start the month of July. The Spikes, Short-Season Single-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, host the West Virginia Black Bears (Pittsburgh Pirates) for a three-game homestand running through Friday, July 3, with a wide array of highlights on the slate.

Wednesday, the Spikes play the Black Bears at 7:05 p.m. Fans can enjoy a Half-Price Wednesday, presented by BIG Froggy 101. Outfield Bleacher seats will be available for just $3 apiece, along with half-price 16-oz. select domestic draft beers from 6-8 p.m. 24-oz. sodas will also be available at half-price all evening long.

Plus, it's Going Green Night at the ballpark and State College Borough Water Authority Water Conservation Awareness Night as the Spikes encourage fans to get environmentally-minded in their local communities.

Fans can then bring their dogs to the ballpark for a night of four-legged fun on Thursday, July 2 at the first Bark in the Park Night of the year, presented by Metzger Animal Hospital, Happy 103 and the Centre Daily Times. That night's 7:05 p.m. game also marks the first $1 Beer Thursday of the year, presented by 93.7 THE BUS. 12-oz. select domestic draft beers will be $1 apiece from 6-8 p.m.

The series ends with a preview of the Fourth of July as FIREWORKS light up the skies following the 7:05 p.m. game on Friday, July 3, presented by the PA Lottery. Friday is also First Responders Appreciation Night, presented by the Centre Daily Times. The Spikes will celebrate the brave men and women in local police, fire and EMT departments who help keep us safe in our local communities.

The Spikes will wear special patriotic hats on Friday as well. The hats will then be up for bids in a Game-Used Hat Auction to benefit PSU for Local Wounded Warriors on Saturday, July 11 during Military Appreciation Night, presented by Lion Country Kia.

Single-game tickets for all three games, as well as every regular season home date through September 6, are currently on sale through the Spikes Box Office and online at State College Spikes.com. Fans can visit the Box Office in person weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., or call (814) 272-1711. Fans purchasing online have the ability to print their tickets using a home computer and printer.

Groups of 20 or more can also purchase discounted tickets for any of the Spikes' 38 home dates. Additional benefits of booking a group for a Spikes home game include preferred seating and an exclusive early entrance.
