Auburn Doubledays News Release
AUBURN, NY - It may have taken five games, but the Doubledays finally won a game in front of the hometown fans. Auburn beat Brooklyn 3-2 on Tuesday night to move to 6-5 on the season and 1-4 at home.
Just like in games one and two of the series, the Cyclones scored first. In the top of the first, Brooklyn struck for two runs. Vinny Sienna scored the first run on a double by David Thompson. Michael Bernal scored the second on a sacrifice fly to center by Brandon Brosher.
In the bottom of the first, Auburn responded and scored its first run of the night. Dalton Dulin walked and was moved to third on a double by Matthew Page. Dulin later scored on a single to center by David Kerian. It marked the sixth run batted in of the series for Kerian, who now leads the team with nine RBIs.
An inning later in the second, Auburn scored another run. Edwin Lora walked and then stole second before Andrew Stevenson brought him in with a single to right. After that, the two teams were tied at two until the sixth.
In the bottom of the sixth, Page singled into center to lead off the inning. The left fielder scored when David Kerian singled into center field. Page was able to score when the center fielder Enmanuel Zabala let the ball roll by him for Brooklyn's first error of the game.
Both teams didn't score a run in the seventh, eighth, or ninth as Auburn cruised to victory with the help of two relievers. Luis Torres was the second pitcher of the day for the Doubledays and his line was 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, and 0 K. He was followed up by Koda Glover whose line was 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, and 5 K. Glover shut the door in the ninth by striking out the side after he gave up a leadoff single to Thompson.
Auburn hits the road and visits WIlliamsport for a three-game series starting Wednesday night. The first game of the series Wednesday night starts at 7:05 PM.
Tuesday's Particulars:
