-SPIKES FINISH ROAD TRIP IN STATEN ISLAND TONIGHT:The State College Spikes continue their 10th Season tonight as they close out their first extended road trip of the year, as well as the month of June, with a matchup against the the Staten Island Yankees in the rubber match of a three-game series at Richmond County Bank Ballpark. The Spikes are 3-1 on their current road trip, taking a pair of games from Mahoning Valley before downing the Yankees in the first game of the set. State College returns home to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Wednesday to start a three-game homestand against West Virginia. The Spikes are now 14-15 all-time against the Yankees, including a 5-9 mark at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.

-LAST GAME: The Spikes produced a four-run fourth inning, and clutch pitching made the lead hold up as they defeated the Staten Island Yankees, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon at Richmond County Bank Ballpark to run their winning streak to three games. The Spikes were stifled early as Staten Island starter Yoel Espinal retired the first nine batters he faced. However, State College broke through against Espinal in the fourth, taking advantage of two hits, three walks and a hit batsman to plate a quartet of runs and seize the lead. The Yankees made the seventh inning hairy for the Spikes by closing to within a run. However, Pedro Echemendia came into a bases-loaded, one-out situation and force a popout and a flyout to end the threat. In the ninth, Echemendia came to the rescue again, forcing a groundout and recording a strikeout, and Ronnierd Garcia then provided help for the last out by barehanding a slow roller and beating Jake Hernandez by a step with a laser to Casey Grayson stretching at first.

-CROSS TO MAKE PRO DEBUT FOR SPIKES TONIGHT: Right-hander Carson Cross makes the start on the mound tonight for State College after a shuffle in the pitching rotation. Cross is making his first professional appearance after pitching four years at the University of Connecticut. In his senior season this past spring, Cross went 10-2 with a 2.29 ERA over 15 starts. The Brentwood, NH native struck out 108 batters and walked just 25 over 106 innings. Cross earned Louisville Slugger Third-Team All-American honors, and was named American Athletic Conference and NEIBA New England Pitcher of the Year.

-YANKEES GO WITH SOUTHPAW CALLAHAN ON HILL: Left-hander Derek Callahan will get the ball for Staten Island tonight. Callahan has gone exactly five innings in each of his first two starts of the year, including a win over Connecticut on the road this past Wednesday. The Edmonds, WA native did not allow a run in that effort and gave up just two hits and a walk while striking out three. Callahan was selected by the New York Yankees in the 16th round of the 2014 MLB Draft out of Gonzaga, and spent time with each of the Yankees' two Gulf Coast League affiliates last season. Callahan has also made a single appearance at Advanced-A Staten Island in each of the past two years.

-BADER JOINS THE SPIKES: The Spikes welcomed Harrison Bader, the 2015 third-round draft choice of the St. Louis Cardinals, to the club yesterday. The University of Florida outfielder was named to the College World Series All-Tournament Team after hitting. 348 with two home runs and five RBI over four games in Omaha. Bader was named an NCBWA third-team All-American this season after hitting 17 homers and driving in 66 runs over 67 games.

-SPIKE MARKS: The Spikes' scoreless streak was stopped at 24 innings on Sunday, their longest since a 26-inning streak last August...The club record is 28 straight shutout frames, set from July 23-26, 2010...Ronnierd Garcia is third in the New York-Penn League with a .429 batting average...Garcia's .515 on-base percentage is third-best in the loop as well...Juan Perezbecame one of nine NYPL pitchers with multiple wins as he earned the victory two days ago...Landon Beck's 0.60 WHIP is second in the NYPL, and his .147 opponents batting average is fifth-best among NYPL starting pitchers
