
Deters leads Captains to victory in final start

(Hagerstown, MD)--Captains righthander Jim Deters made his final start of 2006 one to remember with seven solid innings in a 2-1 victory over the Hagerstown Suns Thursday evening at Municipal Stadium.
Deters (12-9) worked seven innings, scattering six hits. He allowed just one, unearned run in the third inning. He did not issue a walk and struck out two. Deters' 12 wins ranks third in Captains history. He won each of last two starts and three of his final four. His final ERA in 28 starts is 3.11.
The Captains broke a 1-1 tie in the seventh on Roman Pena's RBI single off Steve Cheney (0-1).
Matt Loberg retired the final six batters for his second save.
The Captains (33-31) will travel to Lakewood, New Jersey, to begin a four-game series against the BlueClaws on Friday night at 7:05.
