SAVANNAH, Ga. - A four-run seventh inning sunk the Sand Gnats in their final home game of the season as they dropped a 6-2 decision to the Charleston RiverDogs on Thursday night at Historic Grayson Stadium.

Savannah starter John Lannan allowed five runs on seven hits in 6.2 innings of work as he suffered his eighth loss of the season. Lannan tied his season high with seven strikeouts and held Charleston to just one run until the seventh. Coby Mavroulis came out of the bullpen with two outs in the seventh and gave up one run on three hits in 1.1 innings, and Greg Bunn worked a scoreless, hitless ninth, recording one strikeout.

Savannah scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the third when Francisco Plasencia worked a one-out walk and moved around to third on a wild pitch and a single, setting the stage for Tim Pahuta's sacrifice fly.

Charleston tied the score in the next half-inning when Austin Jackson reached on a one-out single and came in to score on an RBI ground-out. The RiverDogs pulled away in the seventh inning, scoring four runs off four hits, including an RBI double by Josue Calzado and a two-run single from Jeff Beachum.

The Gnats picked up one more run in the eighth as Plasencia ripped his sixth triple of the season and scored two batters later on Pahuta's RBI single.

The Sand Gnats are next in action Friday as they travel to Rome to take on the Braves in their final series of the season. Savannah will send left-hander Jack Spradlin to the mound to face Rome southpaw Beau Jones. Follow all the Sand Gnats action at www.sandgnats.com.
