Lake County Captains News Release

(Hagerstown, MD)-Designated hitter Sean Henry's two-run single in the seventh propelled the Hagerstown Suns to a 5-3, comeback win over the Captains Wednesday night at Municipal Stadium.

Henry, who began the season in rookie ball, was 2-3 in the game with three RBI. He had an RBI single in the fifth for the Suns' first run, and then delivered the go-ahead run in the seventh off Doodle Hicks (3-2).

The Suns (26-39) have gotten well in the series with the Captains. They have won all three games and have a chance at a series sweep when the series wraps up Thursday night at 7:05. The Captains have lost four straight.

The Captains (32-31) built a 3-0 lead with the help of four Hagerstown errors in the first four innings. Max Ramirez had an RBI single in the first to make it 1-0. Chris Gimenez singled and scored on an error in the second, and then delivered an RBI double in the fourth to make it 3-0.

Henry made it 3-1 with his first RBI in the fifth after Hicks took over for starter Ryan Edell, who tossed four shutout innings.

In the seventh, Hicks issued back-to-back walks to start the inning. J.R. Voyles then bunted for a sacrifice, but the ball was thrown away by Ramirez for an error, allowing a run to score to make it 3-2. Henry followed with a line drive to center to chase home two more to give the Suns a 4-3 lead. After Henry moved to second on a sacrifice, he stole third. On the play, Ramirez threw wildly past third base for his second error of the inning. Henry scored to make it 5-3.

Ramirez had only two errors in his previous 112 games this season.

The Captains were shut down by the Suns pitchers. Waner Mateo started and went the first six, giving up on earned runs. Eric Domangue (1-0) pitched a scoreless seventh, getting a double-play ball from Fernando Pacheco with the tying runs on base. Jim Wladyka worked the eighth, and Ryan Myers struck out the side in the ninth for his first save.
