Denny McLain to Sign Autographs at Sunday's Auburn Doubledays Game

Auburn, NY - The Auburn Doubledays of the New York-Penn League, Single-A Short Season affiliate of the Washington Nationals, are excited to announce that Denny McLain will make a special appearance at the team's game this Sunday, August 23.

McLain, a two-time American League Cy Young Award winner and the 1968 AL MVP, will sign free autographs for fans on the main concourse beginning at 4:00 pm on Sunday when the gates open for the Doubledays' 5:05 pm game against the Williamsport Crosscutters. McLain will also throw the game's ceremonial first pitch.

A veteran of 280 career Major League games, McLain's best season came in 1968 for Detroit when the right-hander posted a 31-6 record with a 1.96 ERA for the World Champion Tigers. McLain was named the American League's MVP and Cy Young Award winner after the season and no pitcher has won 30 games in a season since. McLain earned his second consecutive AL Cy Young Award in 1969 when he went 24-9 with a 2.80 ERA.

Sunday is a Little Abners Club Night at Falcon Park and all children ages 12 & younger will be admitted to the game FREE of charge and will also receive a FREE hot dog, fruit drink, and ice cream. Children 12 & younger will also be allowed to run the bases on the field after the game. In addition, fans 18 & older in attendance at the game will have the opportunity to enter a free drawing for a pair of Maria Christina earrings valued at over $200 compliments of Skaneateles Jewelry.

Tickets for each of the Doubledays' 11 remaining home games are on sale now and can be purchased in person at Falcon Park or by calling 315-255-2489 during normal business hours or online 24/7 at AuburnDoubledays.com, where fans can choose their own seats and print their tickets at home.
