Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud members of the United Hockey League, announce that forward Jason Deitsch has been selected as the UHL's Sher-Wood Player of the Week for the period ending February 5th.
In four games last week, Deitsch put up an amazing eight points (4 goals, 4assists) during the K-Wings perfect 3-0-0 week. The highlight of Detisch's week was last Saturday (2/4) versus the Flint Generals, when the rookie forward recorded his first professional hat trick to cap off a four-point (3 goals, 1 assist) against the Generals.
The award is Deitsch's first this season and K-Wings fourth.
By being named the Sher-Wood Player of the Week, Deitsch is the ninth K-Wings player in their UHL history to receive the Sher-Wood Player of the Week. Deitsch joins current teammates Tyler Rennette and Tim Turner and former K-Wings Jim Brown, Guy Dupuis, Yannick Carpentier, Andrew Luciuk and Joe Seroski, as the only other players to receive the award. Deitsch is the first rookie in K-Wings UHL history to receive the honor.
The K-Wings will start a three game week this Friday, February 10th, as Kalamazoo travels to play their archrivals the Fort Wayne Komets. Kalamazoo will stay on the road this Saturday (2/10), when they face-off against the top team in the UHL, the Muskegon Fury. Prior to Kalamazoo's 7:30 p.m. face-off against Muskegon, the K-Wings Alumni will play the Muskegon Alumni in a charity game to benefit the Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund. The only way fans can witness the 5 p.m. charity clash is to purchase tickets to the K-Wings-Fury UHL game. The K-Wings will conclude the week on Sunday (2/12), as the host the Port Huron Flags at 4 p.m. on Meijer Scout Night. Following Sunday's game, the K-Wings will be hosting a post-game skate with the players. Admission for the skate is $5 and skate rental if needed will be $2.
