
Deitsch, Boucher Earn Weekly Honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Kalamazoo Wings center Jason Deitsch has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week and Elmira Jackals goaltender Nick Boucher has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, February 5, 2006.
Deitsch completed the week with eight points (4g, 4a) and a plus-4 rating in three games played. On Wednesday, he netted the game-winning goal and added two assists in the 8-2 victory vs. Flint. In Friday's 5-1 win vs. Motor City, he dished out an assist. On Saturday, he recorded a "hat trick" (3g), including the game-winner, and added an assist in the 7-3 victory vs. Flint. It was the first hat trick of his professional career. The 25-year-old Cincinnati, Ohio native is in his first full professional season. His 38 points (17g, 21a) currently ranks ninth among UHL rookies.
Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Adirondack Frostbite right wing Ryan Bennett, Danbury right wing Jean-Michel Daoust, Elmira right wing Jason Sessa, Fort Wayne left wing Lance Galbraith, Missouri defenseman Tim O'Connell, Motor City center Adam Edinger, Muskegon right wing Robin Bouchard, Quad City defenseman Tom Galvin, Richmond center Mike Oliveira, Roanoke left wing Mike Wiggins, and Rockford center Yannick Tifu.
Boucher finished the week with a 2-0-0 record, a 2.50 goals against average (GAA), and a .938 save percentage (SPCT). He made 36 saves in the 5-3 victory vs. Quad City on Friday. The following evening, he made 39 saves and stopped four of six in the shootout for the 3-2 shootout victory vs. Fort Wayne. It was the third victory in the last four games for the 25-year-old native of Cobble Hill, British Columbia. He has won eight games this season and currently has a .903 SPCT.
Other goaltenders nominated for the Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week include: Adirondack's Kris Tebbs, Danbury's Sylvain Daigle, Fort Wayne's Kevin St. Pierre, Kalamazoo's Joel Martin, Missouri's Kevin Reiter, Motor City's Rod Branch, Muskegon's Clayton Pool, Quad City's Terry Friesen, Richmond's Doug Groenestege, Roanoke's Trevor Cunning, and Rockford's Michel Robinson.
