Danbury mounted a 2-0 lead before Greg Bullock scored to cut the lead in half mid way through the second period. The Trashers responded at the start of the third period to regain the two-goal cushion. The Mechanics never gave up and Scott Dobben scored to get within a goal with over 12 minutes to play in the game. With less than two minutes to play in the game Adam Edinger scored, his 29th goal of the season, to tie the game and force a shootout. Danbury would score twice while the Mechanics could only muster one shootout goal. Vlad Serov, while it doesn't count in the stat sheet continues to put the puck in the net, as he beat the Danbury goaltender. After all was said and done the Mechanics lost but gained the all important point in the race for the playoffs.

Kalamazoo had other ideas as they would mount a 3-0 lead after one period of play and continue to pressure the Mechanics. They would mount a 5-0 lead in the third before the Mechanics would get on the board. With less than seven minutes remaining Matt Smith tallied his 14th goal of the season, 9th on the power play. Peter Szabo and Adam Edinger tallied the assists. Bill Ruggiero replaced starter Rod Branch midway through the game and looked solid making 11 saves on 11 shots.

- 2/4: LONG ROAD TRIP ENDS WITH A WIN AGAINST THE RIVER OTTERS

The long awaited end of the 12 of 13 game road trip finally came for the Mechanics as they faced the River Otters for the fifth time this season. With every game won by the road team thus far the Mechanics looked to continue the trend. And continue the trend they did as they took an early 1-0 lead on David Herrings power play goal at 8:55. The Otters would respond in the second to tie but then the Mechanics took over and scored three unanswered goals. Two goals by Vlad Serov, his 6th and 7th, and Adam Edinger who would get his first of three on the night, his 30th on the year. Edinger scored two more times to give him his second hat trick of the season and in the process become the second Mechanic all-time to have two hat tricks in one season and achieve 30 goals in one season. Sean Avery had two hat tricks last season and Joe Burton finished the season with 36 goals. Rod Branch looked solid after a shaky outing the night before by making 31 saves on 33 shots earning his 21st win of the season.
