Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
(Allentown, Pa) - Lehigh Valley IronPigs (60-67) starting pitcher Enyel De Los Santos pitched well on Wednesday night against the Syracuse Mets (67-61). It wouldn't be enough as the IronPigs lost 2-1 to the Mets.
The Mets took a 1-0 lead against De Los Santos in the top of the first inning as Arismendy Alcantara stole home with one out. The right-hander would settle in as he retired the final 13 batters, he faced to pitch six quality innings.
The IronPigs tied the game at 1-1 against Drew Gagnon in the bottom of the fifth inning as Maikel Franco hit an RBI double to score Phil Gosselin. Gagnon pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed one run (unearned) off six hits and two walks with one strikeout.
The Mets took the lead against Tyler Gilbert (1-4) in the top of the seventh inning as Travis Taijeron hit a pinch-hit RBI single to score Sam Haggerty.
Nick Vincent pitched two scoreless innings in relief for the IronPigs. Syracuse's Tyler Bashler pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning to earn his sixth save of the season. Daniel Zamora (2-1) earned the win by pitching 1 1/3 innings in relief of Gagnon.
