Today's Game: The Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the TinCaps (affiliate of the San Diego Padres) in the finale of a three-game set.
Season Series: Dayton 5, Fort Wayne 3 (at FW: FW 3, Dayton 2). Streaks: Dayton: Lost 1 (7-4 over last 11). Fort Wayne: Won 1 (8-11 over last 19).
Last Night: Fort Wayne snapped the Dragons four-game winning streak with a 5-4 win on Wednesday night. The TinCaps broke a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning on an RBI single by Everett Williams. The game was closely contested throughout as neither club held a lead of more than one run and both teams led at least two times. Dayton finished with eight hits. Chase Weems was 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored. Henry Rodriguez was 1 for 3 with two RBI. Chris Richburg had an RBI double. Edinson Rincon and Danny Payne each had solo homers for Fort Wayne.
Today's Starting Pitcher: Justin Walker makes his 10th start of the season tonight after beginning the year in the Dayton bullpen. In his last start last Thursday at Beloit, he suffered the loss (6.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 SO). Walker split 2009 season between Dayton and Billings, going a combined 1-5, 3.65. He worked 56.2 innings, allowing 59 hits with 10 walks and 54 strikeouts. He walked just seven batters in 65 innings of college baseball in 2008 with Lamar University, going 2-2, 4.85 in 19 games (seven starts). He posted a combined record of 18-1 over his junior and senior seasons at Nederland High School in Nederland, Texas.
