Burlington Bees News Release

Burlington, IA (June 17, 2010) - The Midwest League has announced that Bees pitcher Tyler Sample has been named to the Western Division All-Star Team, replacing Quad Cities right-hander Scott Schneider. He joins a pair of Burlington Bees, catcher Wil Myers and pitcher Bryan Paukovits, will join the coaching staff among those headed to Fort Wayne's Parkview Field for the June 22 event.

Sample has been one of the Midwest League's toughest pitchers to hit throughout the season to this point. His .197 opponents' batting average has him ranked fifth in the league. He has posted a 4.13 ERA with a 2-3 record in 61.0 innings with 52 strikeouts.

Also heading to Fort Wayne will be the Bees coaching staff, who will act as the Western Division coaching staff for the game. Manager Jim Gabella, hitting coach Omar Ramirez, athletic trainer Mark Stubblefield, and strength and conditioning coach Keith Eichas will be part of the team by virtue of the Bees capturing last year's Western Division title.

The Bees head to Cedar Rapids on Friday for a four-game series to close out the first half. They return to Community Field for a six-game homestand starting Monday, June 28 that will conclude with a pair of fireworks displays on July 2 and 3 presented by Catfish Bend Casino.
