Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release
Pawtucket, R.I. - Kyle Davies (6-6) and two relievers combined on a five-hitter as the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) shut out the Pawtucket Red Sox (Boston Red Sox) at McCoy Stadium on Friday night, 4-0. SWB (45-37) swept the short two-game set with its 12th straight win at McCoy Stadium. Pawtucket (38-45) fell to a season-worst seven games under .500. The RailRiders have won 14 of 17 against Pawtucket going back to last season.
The RailRiders got the only run they needed in the second inning when Juan Graterol's groundout to second plated Austin Romine from third base. They added two more runs against starter Joe Kelly (0-1) in the seventh on a Rob Segedin RBI single and a sac fly from Graterol.
Davies authored six innings of four-hit baseball before handing the baton the Chris Martin and Branden Pinder. Martin tossed two perfect frames and Pinder logged a scoreless ninth.
Cole Figueroa added insurance with a ninth-inning home run off of Dalier Hinojosa.
The RailRiders return to PNC Field for a six-day, seven-game homestand starting tomorrow with a Fourth of July contest against the Buffalo Bisons (Toronto Blue Jays) at 7:05 p.m. SWB southpaw Jose De Paula (2-1, 4.12) will face right-hander Scott Copeland (4-2, 2.05). Fans 18 and over will receive a voucher for a scratch-off ticket courtesy of the PA Lottery which will also present a post-game fireworks extravaganza. On Sunday, July 5 a day-night doubleheader will have separate nine-inning games at 1:05 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. The first 2,500 fans in attendance for the Sunday nightcap will receive a Rob Refsnyder bobblehead, presented by Keystone Sanitary Landfill.
