Davidson College Star Joins the Kannapolis Intimidators

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Former Davidson College star, Zach Kayne has been added to the roster of the Kannapolis Intimidators, the Single-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. He will make his first start at shortstop on May 1st and bat ninth against the Lakewood BlueClaws at 7:05 pm.

Kayne was drafted by the White Sox in 2009 in the 22nd round and reported to Great Falls, Montana for his professional debut. While at Great Falls, Kayne hit .266 and played in 54 games in the Advanced Rookie Pioneer League.

The second highest draft pick ever out of Davidson College, Kayne is the single season record holder in doubles with 22 in 2009. In that season he also hit for an average of .340. In his career at Davidson College, in 171 games, Kayne hit for an average of .322.

Davidson College is located just 21 miles from Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium, the home of the Kannapolis Intimidators. Kayne joins former South Rowan High School star Daniel Wagner as a player with ties to the immediate area.
