Tonight: The first-place Gnats look for a sweep of their four game set with the Lexington Legends. Tonight concludes the Gnats eight-game homestand on which the team is currently 5-2. The Gnats, who have the best record in the SAL, lead the Greenville Drive by one half game and the Augusta GreenJackets by two full games for first place in the SAL Southern Division.

Last Night: Mark Cohoon won his fourth game of the year by holding Lexington to two runs on six hits in 6.1 innings. Cohoon struck out four and walked two. The Gnats broke open a 1-1 tie with a four-run fourth inning. Legends starter Robbie Donovan was ejected with the bases full and no one out, and Jefry Marte greeted the reliever, Wander Alvino with a two-run double off the left field wall. Cesar Puello also drove home a run with a single.

Now Pitching: Brandon Moore will make his third start for the Savannah Sand Gnats. Moore gave up six runs, four earned on six hits in three innings in his last start on Monday in an 11-2 loss to Hickory. Moore's first two appearances came out of the Gnats bullpen where he was unscored upon in seven innings. Moore was 6-3 with a 2.09 ERA in 82 innings over 13 starts for the Brooklyn Cyclones in 2009, striking out 71 batters and walking 17. Moore threw the first no-hitter in Brooklyn Cyclones history on August 23, 2009 striking out six, and walking three that day to help the Brooklyn Cyclones beat the Aberdeen Ironbirds 5-0 in game one of a seven-inning doubleheader. The Mets drafted Moore in the 14th round out of Indiana Wesleyan University in 2008 where he was the Mid-Central College Conference Player of the Year. Moore struck out 104 batters in 76.2 IP, making his 12.8 K/9 IP, second in the NAIA.

First Things First: The Gnats have had at least a share of first place for ten straight days. The Gnats have been tied for first on five of those seven days, and had first all to themselves five times including the last three.

Hot: Jefry Marte has hit safely in his last five games over which time he is 6-for-18 (.333) with two doubles and 3 RBI.... Cesar Puello has hit safely in his last five games over which time he is 6-for-15 (.400) with five stolen bases, two walks, five runs scored and an RBI.

Not: Pedro Zapata is one for his last 18....Jeff Flagg is 0-for-9 in the series against Lexington and is 0-for his last 13. In his last nine games, Flagg is hitting .091 (3-for-33) with one home run and two RBI.

Flo - tastic: Gnats shortstop Wilmer Flores has hit safely in 13 of his last 15 games. The 18-year old is eighth in the SAL in batting average (.341), eighth in slugging (.560), tied for third in hits (31), sixth in doubles (9) and second in total bases (51). Flores hit three home runs in 125 games in 2009, but equaled that mark 22 games into the 2010 season.

Pitching and Defense: Gnats have the second-best ERA in the SAL (2.90), but have allowed the fewest runs (76) in the league. Rome has allowed the second-fewest runs (86). The Gnats are tied with Asheville for the fewest unearned runs allowed. The Gnats seven wild pitches are the fewest in the league. Greenville's 10 wild pitches are second-fewest, while Hagerstown pitchers lead the league with 32 wild pitches.

Four for Sure: Savannah is 15-1 when scoring four or more runs and 0-7 when scoring three runs or fewer. When Gnats pitching allows fewer than four runs, the team is 12-3. When the Gnats allow four or more runs at home, the team is 1-3.
