David Bararuk Recalled to Houston

Lafayette, LA – The Houston Aeros today announced the team has recalled center David Bararuk. It is his first call up this season. Bararuk will be available for both Aeros games this weekend against the defending Calder Cup champions, the Milwaukee Admirals.

Bararuk is currently second in scoring on the IceGators with 36 points. He is tied for the team lead with 22 assists and second in goal production with 14. The 21 year old native of Moose Jaw, Sask. is playing his most productive hockey of the season, coming off back to back three point games. Last night, with Dallas Stars Assistant General Manager Francois Giguere in attendance, Bararuk had a goal and two assists against the conference leading, Pensacola Ice Pilots.

Bararuk spent the 2004-05 pre-season with the Aeros and had two points (1-1=2) in three games. The 6-foot, 180-pounder was Dallas' fifth-round pick (No. 147 overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. The 6'0", 180lb.forward spent most of his rookie 2003-04 campaign in the AHL with Utah, totaling 12 points (5-7=12) in 52 games. He also tallied 15 regular-season points (7-8=15) in 16 games with ECHL Idaho, and had 14 points (5-9=14) as the Steelheads won the Kelly Cup. Bararuk notched his lone career two-point AHL game against the Aeros, getting two assists on December 3, 2003.

The IceGators next game is tomorrow night when Louisiana travels west to meet the Texas Wildcatters at 7:05pm. The game will be available on 960AM "the Gator", on the internet through www.IceGators.com, in addition to the audio feed, a videocast of the game is available via the B2-Network.
