Bakersfield Condors News Release
Anchorage, Alaska - The Alaska Aces scored three times early in the third to put a 6-2 game out of reach for the Bakersfield Condors at the Sullivan Arena on Wednesday night.
The Aces held the momentum in the opening period, taking 20 shots and notching the first goal of the game. Charles Linglet banged in a rebound on the power play with a helmet-less Randy Petruk arguing the play for Bakersfield. Petruk turned aside 19 shots in the period.
Leading in shots during the second period 14-2, a bad break cost the Condors a 2-0 deficit. Tony Lawrence won a face off to the right of the Condors net, the puck glanced off the skate of Luis Tremblay and through the legs of Petruk.
Alaska padded their lead early in the third stanza, recording three tallies in the first three and a half minutes to make it 5-0. After falling behind 6-0, the Condors finally got the puck past Peter Aubry, scoring twice in the final eight minutes. Vlad Serov, one game removed from a nine-game point streak, set up one goal and scored his 13th of the season to make it 6-2. The Aces moved within four points of Bakersfield for the second spot in the West Division, while Bakersfield remains two points behind Long Beach.
The Condors meet up with the Aces again on Thursday night at 8:15 p.m. (PST) and on Saturday afternoon at 3:05 p.m. (PST) to wrap up their only trek to the 49th State this season. They return home to host the Fresno Falcons on Friday, February 11th at 7:00 p.m. After that game, fans will be treated to a live concert from international recording artists Hawk Nelson, presented by KKEY-TV 11 and Island Style. Hawk Nelson will perform inside Centennial Garden, free to everyone in attendance at the game.
