Beechey Named CCM Tacks ECHL Player of the Month

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots are proud to announce that center Tyler Beechey has been named the CCM TACKS ECHL Player of the Month for January.

Beechey, who is the Ice Pilots captain, led the Ice Pilots with 25 points (7g-18a) as the Ice Pilots ended up with the most wins ever in franchise history with a record of 10-4-1 in January. Beechey also was a starter for the American Conference in the 2005 Coors Light ECHL All-Star Game in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Beechey had seven multiple-point games in January including four points against Louisiana on January 8 (2g-2a) and Augusta on January 29 (1g-3a) and three points at Texas on January 9 (1g-2a) and at Long Beach on January 23 (1g-2a). He had four consecutive games where he scored multiple points January 7 against Louisiana ! (1g-1a), January 8 against Louisiana (2g-2a), January 9 at Texas (1g-2a) and January 14 at Idaho (0g-2a). Beechey scored a goal and picked up two assists in the Ice Pilots 3-0 win at Long Beach on January 23.

Beechey had a plus-minus rating of +8 for the month of January finishing even or better in 12 of his 15 games. He ended the month with a five-game scoring streak (2g-8a) and a five-game assist streak (8a).

Beechy currently leads the ECHL with 56 points and 21 power-play points (7ppg-14ppa) in 43 games and he is tied for the league lead with seven game-winning goals and three shorthanded assists. He ranks second in the league with 35 assists, is tied for second with 14 power-play assists and is tied for third in the ECHL with 21 goals.

The Ice Pilots are currently tied for first place overall in the league with the Long Beach Ice Dogs with 60 points. The Ice Pilots have a record of 28-11-4 for 60 points while Long Beach has played one more game than the Ice Pilots! with a record of 28-12-4 for 60 points. The Ice Pilots have the best winning percentage in the league at .698.

It is the first time ever this late in the season that the Ice Pilots have the most points in the entire ECHL. The Ice Pilots are on a six game winning streak and can tie a franchise record in consecutive wins with a win at Mississippi on Friday night at 7:35 p.m. The Ice Pilots will also play at Gwinnett on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. central time.

The Ice Pilots next two home games on Friday, February 11 and Saturday, February 12 vs. the Texas Wildcatters at 7:05 p.m. Friday night is Church Night and Saturday night is Scout Night.
