ROCHESTER, NY - The Rochester Red Wings andraised over $7,100 for the Alzheimer's Association, Rochester and Finger Lakes Region Friday night during Alzheimer's Awareness Night at Frontier Field.

Organized and paid for entirely by Rochester reliever Logan Darnell, Red Wings players and coaches all wore white and purple jerseys that were auctioned off with the proceeds benefiting Alzheimer's research. Logan's mom, Caye, suffers from the disease. Players and coaches also wore stirrups during the game. In addition to the jerseys, premium items such as autographed memorabilia by Minnesota Twins stars Joe Mauer, Brian Dozier and Glen Perkins among many other current Twins along with a Chevy truck grill signed by the entire Red Wings team were available at a silent auction during the game.

Darnell's jersey was sold for $650 to Red Wings season ticket holders Bill and Carol Barnes who then gave the jersey back to Logan. Alex Meyer's jersey went for $500 and a Brian Dozier autographed bat sold for $500 as well. Rochester manager Mike Quade donated $500 himself. In total, the 32 jerseys up for silent auction sold for $4,810. Between that number, the other items available and straight donations, the total amount raised topped $7,100.
