D'Arnaud Goes 3-For-4 with Home Run

(Portland, ME)---Travis d'Arnaud went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a home run and Anthony Gose homered, but the Fisher Cats dropped an 8-4 decision on Saturday night at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine.

The Fisher Cats (47-32) opened a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Gose walked and Mike McDade doubled to make it 1-0. d'Arnaud's first double plated McDade.

Portland (29-50) tied the game in the bottom of the inning when Oscar Tejeda followed a single by Reynaldo Rodriguez with a two-run homer.

The Sea Dogs went ahead in the bottom of the fourth inning on doubles by Chih-Hsien Chiang and Rodriguez.

Gose homered to lead off the top of the fifth inning to tie the game at 3-3, the only run allowed in relief by winning pitcher Junichi Tazawa (1-1).

Chiang's three-run homer off Henderson Alvarez (4-4) in the bottom of the fifth inning put Portland up 6-3. Alvarez allowed six runs on eight hits in five innings. He walked one and struck out eight.

The Sea Dogs also scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning for an 8-3 lead. Jon Hee drove in a run with a bases loaded single and another run scored when Jeremy Hazelbaker grounded into a double play.

The final run of the game was d'Arnaud's home run leading off the eighth inning.

The Fisher Cats conclude the series in Portland on Sunday at 6:00pm. New Hampshire will start RHP Zach Stewart (4-3, 4.39) against RHP Alex Wilson (6-4, 2.82 ) for the Sea Dogs. Radio coverage on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Dick Lutsk begins at 5:45pm.
