New Britain Rock Cats News Release
New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats of the Eastern League announced two player moves today and each involved a right-handed Pitcher.
RHP Bruce Pugh, the 22-year-old native of Pasadena, MD who Minnesota selected out of Hillsborough Community College in the 19th Round of the 2008 Draft, has been assigned to Ft. Myers in the Florida State League. The 6'3"/180-pound bullpen specialist made 11 relief appearances for the 2011 Rock Cats and departs for the Single-A classification with a record of 0-2, with 4 Saves and a 9.69 ERA. The promising hurler experienced command woes at the AA-level as his Bases-on-Balls (14) exceeded his Strike Outs (12) during his 13 total innings of work this season in New Britain;
RHP Dakota Watts, a 23-year-old native of Oroville, CA, will join the Rock Cats today from Ft. Myers in the Florida State League. Selected by the Twins out of Cal State-Stanislaus in the 16th Round of the 2009 Draft, the 6'5"/210-pound reliever began the 2011 Season in Ft. Myers, making 24 appearances out of the Miracle bullpen. He compiled a 2-2 W-L record with 8 Saves and a 4.60 ERA over 31.1 total innings of work. Ranked by Baseball America as the Minnesota organization's 22nd best Prospect, this will be Watts' second stint in New Britain as he was a September call-up (0-0; 2 appearances) in 2010. Both players are expected to be in uniform with their new teams in time for tonight's game action. In New Britain, Watts will wear jersey #37.
