
Danis Leads \'Dogs to Shootout Victory

Hamilton, ON - Bulldogs goaltender Yann Danis stopped 36 shots, as well as three of four shootout attempts, as Hamilton defeated the Peoria Rivermen by a score of 2-1 in a shootout on Friday night at Copps Coliseum. It was the third straight win on home ice for Hamilton, whose record improves to 15-23-0-2.
The Rivermen opened the scoring while on the power play at the 13:00 minute mark of the first period when Peter Sejna received a pass from Trevor Bryne and fired a low snap shot over the right pad of Danis. The goal was Sejna's 12th power play goal of the season.
After a scoreless second period, Bulldogs centre Corey Locke tied the game, scoring a power play goal at 3:46 of the third period. Peoria netminder Patrick Lalime stopped the initial shot from Danny Syvret but Locke buried the rebound.
The Rivermen outshot the Bulldogs 3-2 in a scoreless overtime period.
Corey Locke, Alexander Perezhogin, and James Sanford scored for Hamilton in the shootout. Mike Glumac had the lone shootout goal for Peoria.
Danis stopped 36 shots for Hamilton to earn the victory and was named the game's first star. Lalime made 39 saves for Peoria, and was named the game's second star.
Hamilton was 1 for 8 with the man advantage while Peoria was 1 for 6.
Hamilton's next action will take place on Saturday, January 7 when the Manitoba Moose make their first visit of the season to Copps Coliseum. Game time is 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available at Copps Coliseum Box Office (in-person sales only), any Ticketmaster outlet, or online at ticketmaster.ca.
