April 10, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Texas Stars News Release
CEDAR PARK, TX - The Texas Stars, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Dallas Stars, announced today that Dallas has recalled goaltender Cristopher Nilstorp on an emergency basis. Texas also announced that goaltender Josh Robinson has been recalled from the Idaho Steelheads, the team's ECHL affiliate.
The recall was necessary because of the lower-body injury goaltender Kari Lehtonen suffered in Tuesday's game against Los Angeles. He is currently listed as day-to-day.
Nilstorp, 29, has an 18-11-5 record in 36 appearances for Texas this season. The 6-foot-4 goaltender ranks 10th in the AHL with a 2.26 goals against average (GAA), and has earned a .909 save percentage (SV%) with four shutouts in 2012-13. He has a 1-3-1 record with a .897 SV% and a 3.09 GAA in five appearances for Dallas this season. The Malmo, Sweden native helped Farjestad BK capture the Le Mat Trophy in 2011, which is earned annually by the victors in the Swedish Elite League playoffs. Nilstorp went undrafted and was signed by Dallas as a free agent on June 5, 2012.
Robinson, 23, has been to Texas twice this season and has served as the Stars backup goaltender for three AHL games. The Frankenmuth, Michigan native has played in 39 games for Idaho this year, posting a 27-8-1-3 record, with a 2.57 GAA, a 0.925 SV% and five shutouts. Robinson has also made three appearances for Idaho in the first round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs, posting a 1-1-1 record with a 4.07 GAA and a 0.888 SV%. Currently in his first professional season, he was undrafted after playing four years for Michigan Tech (WCHA) and signed a standard AHL contract with Texas on June 6, 2012.
The Dallas Stars, who currently sit two points out of the eighth and final playoff spot, faceoff against the Nashville Predators this Friday, April 12 at Bridgestone Arena at 7:00 p.m. CT (TV: FOX Sports Southwest PLUS; Radio: 1310 The Ticket).
The Texas Stars will continue their five-game road trip on Thursday, April 11th as they travel to Charlotte for a 6:00 p.m. CT faceoff with the Checkers at Time Warner Cable Arena. The Stars next home game is on Friday, April 19th against the Houston Aeros at 7:30 p.m. Friday's game at Cedar Park Center is a $3 Beer Night and another Texas Lottery Lucky Section Night, where fans can win scratch off tickets from the Texas Lottery when the first Stars player scores a goal. 2013-14 Season Tickets are now on sale.
