
Penguins Acquire Nesbitt from Peoria

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that forward Derek Nesbitt has been acquired from the Peoria Rivermen in exchange for future considerations.
Nesbitt, 30, has compiled 47 points (26g-21a) and 18 penalty minutes in 66 games this season with Peoria. He ranks first on the Rivermen in goals (26) and power play goals (8) and is second in assists (21) and points (47).
Originally signed to a professional tryout agreement by Peoria on Nov. 11, 2010, Nesbitt went on to record 65 goals and 79 assists over 196 contests for the Rivermen.
An eighth-year pro out of Egmondville, Ontario, Nesbitt has appeared in 319 AHL games with Peoria, Rockford, San Antonio and Manitoba and has totaled 203 points (92g-111a) and 62 PIM. He has also skated in 17 playoff games, registering three goals and four assists
Nesbitt was a four-year letterman at the Ferris State University from a 2001-2005 and is a veteran of 211 ECHL games between Gwinnett, Toledo and Idaho. He was a member of the Idaho Steelhead's 2007 Kelly Cup-winning squad.
