The Toronto Marlies posted a record of 2-0-0-0 this past week. In their first of back to back games against the St.
John's IceCaps, AHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets, the Toronto Marlies earned a 3-2 overtime victory on Friday night.
Ryan Lasch notched his first goal as a member of the Marlies while Jesse Blacker tallied the other goal for Toronto in regulation. Greg Scott scored the game winning goal at 2:20 of the extra frame. Drew MacIntyre stopped 23 of 25 shots to earn his 11th win of the season. Toronto went 1-for-5 on the powerplay and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
On Saturday, the Marlies downed the IceCaps by a score of 4-2. Stuart Percy notched his first pro goal while Spencer Abbott, Kenny Ryan and Greg Scott registered the other Toronto markers. In his pro debut, Garret Sparks made 23 saves to earn his first victory as a member of the Marlies.
Toronto went 1-for-3 on the powerplay and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.
Look Ahead:
Toronto will play three games this coming week.
In their first two games of the week, the Marlies travel to British Columbia to take on the Abbotsford Heat, AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames. The first game will be played on Friday night at 10 p.m. (ET). After a day off, the two teams will meet again at 7 p.m. (ET) on Sunday. Ben Walter leads the Heat with 45 points in 64 games. Goaltender Danny Taylor has posted 17 wins in 38 games so far this season. The Marlies return home on Tuesday, April 16 for a 7 p.m. game against the Oklahoma City Barons, AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers. Mark Arcobello leads the Barons with 61 points in 67 games, while Yann Danis has 22 wins in 41 games.
