Dallas Recalls Iowa Star

DES MOINES, IA - Iowa Stars Director of Hockey Operations Scott White announced today that the Dallas Stars have recalled goaltender Mike Smith, under emergency conditions, from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Iowa Stars.

Drafted by the Dallas Stars in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Smith departs the Iowa Stars with a 2.44 Goals Against Average, a .918 Save Percentage and a 9-11-1 record. Two of his wins have come via the shutout, including the first shutout in team history on November 19th against Hamilton. His GAA and save percentage are eighth and seventh in the AHL, respectively.

Smith owns the distinction of being the sixth goaltender in ECHL history to score a goal. On October 26th, 2002, he registered a 21-save shutout and scored a goal against Dayton.

NEXT THREE GAMES: The Iowa Stars play in Grand Rapids tonight against the Griffins. Iowa then returns home for the first two games of a five-game home-stand. The Stars welcome the Chicago Wolves back to Wells Fargo Arena on Friday, January 20th on 4 for $40 night! Junior Lessard will also be presented with his AHL Award for earning the Player of the Week. The following night, the 21st, join local area mascots in celebrating SHOOTER'S FIRST BIRTHDAY! The first 5,000 fans will receive a Shooter Bobblehead.
