Houston Aeros News Release
HOUSTON, Texas - The Houston Aeros will host their third annual "Houston Chronicle in Education Field Trip" game Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 11:05 a.m. against the Milwaukee Admirals. The 2005 game drew more than 9,000 fans - mostly schoolchildren.
The field trip is designed to help children in the Houston area prepare for their standardized state TAKS and TEKS tests. The Aeros are tying in school curriculums with the game of hockey to provide a fun, learning environment for the students. Students who participate receive a TAKS and TEKS lesson plan booklet compliments of the Houston Chronicle.
Many Title One schools in the Houston area cannot afford these costs, and the Aeros are looking for sponsors to help subsidize the many costs involved such as buses, lunches and tickets. Companies are invited to participate in this night by providing a donation toward tickets, transportation or lunches for low economic Title One schools.
There are three levels of involvement for this program.
