D'Agostini Earns First Pro Win as Beast Beat up on Thunder

GLENS FALLS, NEW YORK - The Brampton Beast beat their opponents all over the ice on Sunday afternoon, both on the scoresheet and on the ice, as they gave the Adirondack Thunder everything they had and emerged victorious, avoiding the season sweep with a huge 4-1 win over the Adirondack Thunder at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
Newcomer Andrew D'Agostini was nothing short of outstanding in his Beast debut and made 31 saves to earn his first professional victory. Mike Hammond led the way on offense for the Beast with a goal and an assist, while Travis Brown, Jordan Henry and Nick McParland each recorded singles for the Beast, who have now won five of their last eight games.
The Beast got the scoring started early in the first period on the power play as Travis Brown let a shot rip from the point. The puck got through the crowd in front and beat Thunder starter and former Beast Drew Fielding at 9:03. The goal was Brown's eighth of the season with Steven Kaunisto and David Ling drawing the assists.
The Beast fed off the energy and struck again quickly. Just 12 seconds later on an almost identical play, Jordan Henry sent the puck on net through a crowd. Fielding got a piece of the puck but it just squeaked over the line, giving the Beast an early two-goal lead, with Mike Hammond and Mitch Zion earning the helpers at 9:15.
The Beast continued their strong play throughout the first period and were once again rewarded for their efforts. Mike Hammond finished off a beautiful passing play with a perfect shot from the top of the circle at 16:57, giving the Beast their second power play goal of the period and a three-goal lead.
Greg Wolfe would get the Thunder on the board on a 2-on-1 with 40 seconds remaining in the first period, making the score 3-1 for Brampton heading into the first intermission.
Three goals on 11 shots chased Drew Fielding from the Thunder goal. He was replaced by Ken Appleby who helped settled his team down. He made nine saves in the second period alone to keep his team in the game.
While the second period didn't feature any goals, it certainly wasn't short on action.
Just over seven minutes into the second period, things got a little chippy as Travis Brown was run hard into the boards. That sparked Jeff Brown and David Ling to drop the gloves with Luke Curadi and Louick Marcotte respectively.
Brown was given five minutes for fighting plus an additional two minutes for roughing, while Ling was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct.
Between the pipes, D'Agostini was sensational down the stretch and helped the Beast kill the subsequent Thunder power play.
He continued his hot play into the third period as the Thunder came out buzzing. Adirondack pumped 11 shots on net in the third period but D'Agostini stayed cool, calm and collected and stopped all the shots he faced in the third period.
Nick McParland found the empty net in the dying minutes of play to solidify the Beast's first victory in six attempts against the Thunder this season.
