Mallards Stop Fuel 4-2
April 3, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Indy Fuel News Release
MOLINE, IL- Jared Knight scored twice including the game-winning goal as the Quad City Mallards downed the Indy Fuel Sunday afternoon at the iWireless Center by a 4-2 count.
Daniel Ciampini started the scoring off just 1:07 into the game when he converted the rebound of a Nick Petrecki point shot past the outstretched right pad of Mallards goaltender Brody Hoffman (36 saves) to make it 1-0 Fuel.
The Mallards pushed back with a pair of goals to forge a 2-1 lead before Anders Franzon came streaking down from the right point, connecting on Ben Marshall's feed to the right faceoff dot for his second goal of the season and a 2-2 tie after 40 minutes of play.
Push as they might in the third, Indy could not find the go-ahead goal. Instead it was Knight converting for the second time in the contest for the eventual game-winner at 6:18. Matt Carey's empty net goal sealed the 4-2 final.
Just two games remain for the Fuel in the 2015-16 season, Friday at home and Saturday on the road against the Fort Wayne Komets. Friday's game is a 7:35 pm start for fan appreciation night. The Morellis Cleaners Indy Fuel pregame show starts 15 minutes prior to puck drop for the webcast on CBSSports1430.com and via the TuneIn Radio app.
