February 18, 2017 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
Moline, IL- The Cincinnati Cyclones (24-23-4-0) earned a 2-1 win over the Quad City Mallards on Friday night. Forwards Seth Ambroz and Nick Huard scored the goals for the Cyclones, who snap their two-game skid.
After the Mallards took a 1-0 lead midway through the first in a goal from Nolan LaPorte, Cincinnati pulled even with just over a minute to play when a scramble in front of the Quad City net resulted in Ambroz collecting the loose puck and firing it in from one knee to tie the game, 1-1, through 20 minutes.
After a scoreless second period that saw both teams ramp up the physical intensity, the two sides exchanged several quality scoring chances. Both netminders were charged with making big saves, and the 1-1 tie held up throughout the majority of the third period.
With 1:24 remaining in regulation, Cincinnati netted to game-winner when a shot from defenseman Jaynen Rissling ricocheted off of traffic in front of the net and bounced to Huard who slammed in the rebound to send the Cyclones to the 2-1 win.
The Cyclones were outshot, 36-28 on the night, with Cyclones goaltender Michael Houser stopping 35 to collect the win. Cincinnati returns home on Sunday afternoon to take on the Ft. Wayne Komets at 3:05pm ET.
