Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
JOHNSTOWN, Pennsylvania - Cedrick Desjardins stopped 17 shots and Barret Ehgoetz scored a power play with less than eight minutes to play to pace the Cincinnati Cyclones to a 2-0 win over the Johnstown Chiefs on Friday night.
Desjardins turned in his seventh career shutout, most in Cyclones history and his first-ever win at the Cambria County War Memorial in the triumph.
The first period featured a physical nature, highlighted by fights involving Cyclones forward Jimmy Bonneau and defenseman Matt Macdonald-but no scoring. Cincinnati controlled the offensive pace, outshooting Johnstown, 15-2, in the frame.
The second period was more of the same, as neither team could muster a goal. Sensational goaltending from Cincinnati's Cedrick Desjardins and Johnstown's Andrew Penner turned away all scoring opportunities. The Cyclones also led the shots on goal in the second period, 14-9.
The third period saw Cincinnati score a pair of goals to claim the win. Center Barret Ehgoetz netted his fifth goal of the season, tapping home a puck that trickled past Penner to open the scoring. Bryan Schmidt and Thomas Beauregard added the assists. With exactly one minute to play, Mathieu Aubin collected his eighth goal of the season from Ehgoetz to close the scoring.
The Cyclones improve to 12-5-1, two points behind Elmira for the division lead. Johnstown drops to 8-7-1 on the season.
The Cyclones finish the month with a 10-3-1 record, tying the club record for wins in a month (March 2002).
The Cyclones close the weekend road trip Saturday (Dec. 1) at Trenton. The pregame show on SuperTalk FM 96.5 starts at 6:30pm and face off is slated for 7pm. The Cyclones return to U.S. Bank Arena for three games next week (12/5 v. Dayton and 12/7 and 12/8 v. Elmira).
