Ice Pilots Rally and Earn Point in 3-2 Overtime Loss

PENSACOLA, FL - Mike Sgroi tied the game late in the third period to force overtime, but TJ McElroy scored the game winning goal on the power play at 1:43 of the extra session to give the South Carolina Stingrays a 3-2 win at the Pensacola Civic Center.

The Ice Pilots tied the game with just 3:23 left on a goal that was deflected off of Sgroi's stick. South Carolina took their first lead of the game 42 seconds into the third period as Andrew Gordon beat Mike Brodeur on the right wing side to make it a 2-1 game.

The Ice Pilots scored the game's first goal as Chris Straube beat Davis Parley with a shot from the high slot but South Carolina responded 23 seconds later to even the game at one.

For the second consecutive game, the Ice Pilots had just one power play opportunity.
