
Cyclones Sign Goaltender Chad Collins

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL, announced Tuesday (Dec. 12) that they have signed goaltender Chad Collins to a contract.
Collins, 25, is in his third season as a professional and third with the Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). This season, Collins has a 7-4-2 record with a 4.16 goals against average and a .885 save percentage. He had a season-high 41 saves against Knoxville on Nov. 3 and has had nine games with 30 or more saves.
Collins is no stranger to the ECHL, having played 15 games over the past two seasons. During that time, he has a record of 6-5-2, a 3.54 goals against average and a .886 save percentage. Collins has appeared in games with Dayton, Toledo, Gwinnett and with Augusta-where current Cyclones Head Coach Chuck Weber was an assistant, when he played there.
Collins began his pro career in 2004-05 with Fayetteville. He turned in a 25-13 record with a league-best 2.78 goals against average and topped the league with a .922 save percentage. Collins was also selected to play in the league's All-Star Game that season. He was also selected as the SPHL's Rookie of the Year and Goaltender of the Year.
Last year, he played in 17 games with Fayetteville-collecting an 8-5-3 slate with a 2.06 goals against average and a .941 save percentage. He also played for three ECHL squads.
"I'm comfortable with Chad Collins," Cyclones Head Coach Chuck Weber said. "He's a guy who has been tested in these waters before (ECHL) and he can play against the guys at this level."
The Cyclones are in action tonight against Dayton, faceoff is at 7:30pm at U.S. Bank Arena.
