Ruggeri heads back to Philly

TRENTON, NJ (December 12, 2006) - The Trenton Titans announced today that defenseman Rosario Ruggeri has been recalled by the Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League.

Reassigned to the Titans on November 3, Ruggeri has registered two goals, seven assists and 24 penalty minutes in 15 games for Trenton this season. Ruggeri receives his second call-up of the year to the Phantoms, with who he has appeared in nine career contests.

Now a third-year pro, Ruggeri was limited to 32 games in 2005-06 due to injury while registering two goals, eight assists and 28 penalty minutes. The 6-1, 214-pound blueliner put up 14 points (2g, 12a) in 49 appearances with Trenton during his rookie season and added two helpers in the postseason during the Titans' run to the 2005 Kelly Cup Championship.

A native of the Montreal, Quebec, Ruggeri was a fourth round draft pick (#105 overall) of the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2002 NHL Draft. Ruggeri also totaled 112 points (24G, 88A) and 301 PIM over 204 career QMJHL games with Montreal and Chicoutimi from 2000-04.
