'Blades Teddy Bear Toss most successful in team history

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades are proud to announce that the Eighth Annual "Teddy Bear Toss" was the most successful in team history with the team collecting 5,528 stuffed toys on Saturday, December 2!

The standing-room only crowd of 7,406 showed up at the Everblades - Texas Wildcatters game armed with stuffed toys of all kinds, and holiday cheer on their mind as they covered the ice surface with the toys during the second intermission. Despite seeing the 'Blades fall to the Wildcatters, the fans showed that this particular night is about more than just hockey.

"Once again Everblades fans showed why they are the best in the ECHL." Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush said. "Every year our fans go above and beyond when donating for a charitable event, and this year they out did themselves in the Teddy Bear Toss. I know there will be a lot of happy children in Southwest Florida thanks to our fans."

The benefactors of the Teddy Bear Toss include the numerous youth organizations affiliated with the Lee County Sheriff's Department, the United Way, Toys for Tots, the Salvation Army, and Barbara's Friends which works in conjunction with the Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida.

As in the past the Everblades players will hand deliver a portion of the stuffed toys to kids battling cancer at the Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida. This year's drop off will take place on Tuesday, December 19.

The Florida Everblades, proud affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers, return to action on Friday night when continue their six game road trip against the Augusta Lynx at 7:30 p.m. from the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center in Augusta, GA.

The Everblades return home on Friday, December 22 to host the South Carolina Stingrays. Florida Everblades individual game tickets are available!
