CINCINNATI - For the second consecutive game, Cincinnati Cyclones right wing Jean-Michel Daoust netted a hat trick-tonight helping the club to a 5-2 win over the Wheeling Nailers. The victory moves the Cyclones into a tie for the North Division lead.

The Cyclones opened the scoring 11:52 into the opening frame, when Jean-Michel Daoust took a feed in the slot to the left of Nathan Marsters and beat him over the blocker with his 19th goal of the season. Matt Syroczynski and David Desharnais added the assists. It was the 51st career goal for Daoust with Cincinnati, the second-highest total in club history.

Cincinnati netted three second period goals to extend the lead to 4-2. Sixteen seconds into the frame, Wheeling's Ned Harvern netted his eleventh goal of the season, shorthanded, to tie the game at 1-1.

A flurry of three goals in 35 seconds ensued, when Daoust netted his second of the night and 20th of the campaign at 5:01, on the power play, from Tyler Howells and Sean Perkins. Havern tied the game again at 2-2, when he scored at 5:23. Cincinnati closed the barrage at 5:36, when Cory Urquhart netted his first goal of the season at 5:36, as Matt Macdonald added the helper. The Cyclones spread the lead to two, when Daoust completed the hat trick at 17:28 with a power play goal. Daoust took a feed from a circling Desharnais-who took the puck from behind the net and moved to the front of the cage and fired a pass to Daoust 12-feet away on the left side. Gerard Miller added the second assist on the goal.

The second period saw Cincinnati score at least three goals in a period for the 16th time this season.

In the third period, Scott Reynolds closed out the scoring with his eighth goal of the season at 6:41. Thomas Beauregard and Barret Ehgoetz get the assists on the score.

Dov Grumet-Morris picked up the win for the Cyclones, improving his record to 10-2-1 and marking the ninth consecutive decision that he has not lost in regulation time (8-0-1). He has not lost a hockey game in regulation time since November 4 at Dayton. Grumet-Morris stopped 16 shots in collecting the win.

The Cyclones are 18-6-2, while Wheeling is 9-14-3. With the win, Cincinnati is tied with Elmira for the North Division lead.

The Cyclones hit the road this weekend for a pair of games at Johnstown. Both Friday and Saturday's games will start at 7pm. Friday's game can be heard on Rock 96 FM (formerly SuperTalk FM 96.5).
